After School Matters is a youth employment program for residents of the city of Chicago. Apply now for a fall 2020 or spring 2021 PAID pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship or internship program!
For teens who successfully meet certain program requirements (including attendance and participation), After School Matters provides them with a monetary stipend.
Summer: $336 – $725 School Year: $275 – $425 (per session, Fall and/or Spring)
Stipends lower participation barriers, reinforce the importance of dedicated participation and hard work in programs, and make an economic impact on teens, their families and communities. Providing stipends to our teens empowers them and reinforces the value of their time and efforts.

The Illinois State Board of Education has a group called Student Voices. On the Student Voices web page, they share some really great information about how elementary school students can start planning for a job or career.
